Revvity's commitment to biosecurity and responsible synthesis of oligonucleotides

Biosecurity encompasses the policies, practices, and technologies designed to prevent the misuse, accidental release, or intentional creation of biological agents that pose risks to public health, agriculture, or the environment. As advancements in nucleic acid synthesis accelerate and make gene synthesis more accessible, efficient and powerful maintaining robust biosecurity standards becomes essential.

Our commitment to the Nucleic Acid Synthesis Screening Framework

As a leader in life sciences including in synthetic biology, Revvity is committed to supporting responsible use of our synthetically manufactured oligonucleotides. We screen applicable orders for sequences of concern and assess customer information to help identify orders requiring further review

We continually strive to implement best practices issued by leading international and domestic bodies, including but not limited to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the International Biosecurity and Biosafety Initiative for Science (IBBIS).

Screening practices include:

  • Screening sequences for Sequence of Concern (SoCs) according to the Framework and applicable Revvity’s internal procedures.
  • Assessing customer identity and, where indicated, the legitimacy of SOC-containing orders.
  • Escalating concerning orders and reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
  • Retention of all ordering and screening records for a period of at least 3 years.
  • Attestation to adherence with the 2024 Framework for Nucleic Acid Synthesis Screening

Revvity's screening practices strive to adhere to the criteria set forth in the 2024 Framework for Nucleic Acid Synthesis Screening and other applicable requirements issued by various parties internationally.
